Introduction to Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a degenerative, incurable condition affecting the brain. The disease is characterised by the formation of plaques and tangles in the brain which lead to death of brain cells and altered transmission of nerve impulses. The condition is thought to affect around 465,000 people in the UK alone.

Manchester Neuro Physio can provide treatment and support for people with Alzheimer’s disease no matter what stage of their condition in order to maximise quality of life and independence for as long as possible. Physiotherapy may include advice on remaining active, improving mobility, reducing risk of falls and giving support to families and carers.
