Diagnosis of Ataxia

There is no specific diagnostic test for ataxia, however a Neurologist will be able to confirm the presence of ataxia with a neurological examination. Tests such as MRI scans and blood tests may be used to rule out other disorders and a genetic test may be offered where hereditary ataxia is suspected.
