Introduction to Dyspraxia

Dyspraxia is commonly referred to as ‘clumsy child syndrome’. Muscle strength, co-ordination and physical capabilities are reduced in comparison to other children of a similar age. This can often lead to problems at school and disruptive behaviour.

Dyspraxia often goes undiagnosed. Diagnosis is important as it can provide an explanation behind your child’s behavioural or learning problems. Following diagnosis, a graduated exercise programme can be formulated by one of our specialist paediatric physiotherapists. This programme will be aimed at strengthening, co-ordination and balance.

Appropriate physiotherapy can increase your child’s self confidence and improve their behaviour at home and school.
