Effects of Dystonia

There are many different types of dystonia therefore the symptoms may vary widely. In most cases the symptoms include:

  • Abnormal postures
  • Muscle spasms and pain
  • Involuntary movements
  • Tremor
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Fatigue
  • Excessive blinking
  • Poor handwriting
  • Voice or speech difficulties
Initially the symptoms may be mild and only noticeable after prolonged exercise, fatigue or stress. However, over time the symptoms become more noticeable and more frequent. Manchester Neuro Physio can reduce the impact of dystonia by providing advice on appropriate exercises.
