Paediatric physiotherapy involves rehabilitation of babies and children with neurological conditions. At Manchester Neuro Physio we have experienced paediatric physiotherapists who will provide specialised physiotherapy treatment for children aged between 0 and 18 years that have difficulty with their physical development. Our paediatric physiotherapists treat children with neurological and developmental problems.
The physiotherapists at Manchester Neuro Physio specialise in treating neurological conditions (problems with the brain, spinal cord or peripheral nerves). Babies and/or children with neurological conditions may have difficulties with their physical functions including mobility, muscle strength, range of movement and balance.
Children with developmental problems may have difficulty at reaching his/her developmental milestones by a time or age that is expected. Developmental milestones are tasks most children learn or develop that commonly appear in certain age ranges. For example, head control, rolling, crawling, walking and talking.
Physiotherapy treatment for children with neurological or developmental problems will maximise their potential and promote physical development to reach specific milestones (e.g. rolling, crawling and walking).
At Manchester Neuro Physio we treat a variety of neurological paediatric conditions including:

The treatment approach will depend on your childs individual circumstances in order to provide the best possible treatment. Treatment is entirely child focused and based solely on what is best for each child.
- Re-educating normal movement patterns
- Balance training
- Improving standing and quality of walking
- Advice and support for parents and or teachers
- Milestone development
- Working on fine and gross motor skills
Paediatric physiotherapy treatment can be carried out either at the clinic or in your own home or child’s school depending on your child’s needs.
For children with physical and developmental problems, neurological physiotherapy should commence as soon as possible and is best provided by a specialist neurological paediatric physiotherapist.
At Manchester Neuro Physio we provide an early intervention as there are no waiting lists. Our physiotherapists also work closely with occupational therapists who can provide additional treatment and equipment if necessary.
