The effects of Erb's Palsy

The effects of Erb's Palsy

The effects of Erb's Palsy depend on how badly the nerves are damaged. The effects are usually mild and are usually resolved in a couple of years. "Palsy" means weakness, explaining how Erb's Palsy causes weakness in the affected sides shoulder, arm or hand.

Effects:

  • Muscle Weakness
  • Muscle wastage
  • Reduced Sensation
  • Arm usually hands by the side and is rotated inwards
  • Stunted growth in that arm

Physiotherapy is usually needed to facilitate recovery and to teach your baby how to use that arm.
