What is Charcot Marie Tooth?

Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) disease is an inherited condition that causes damage the peripheral nervous system (connects the body to the brain and spinal cord).

CMT is caused by an inherited fault in one of many genes that is responsible for the growth and development of peripheral nerves, and results in them being damaged over time. CMT is a progressive condition meaning the symptoms get worse over time.
