Who is suitable for CIMT?

Who is suitable for CIMT?

Individuals who have suffered from the following conditions will benefit from our CIMT program:

  • Stroke
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Brain injury
  • Hemiplegia

Some additional requirements for the CIMT program is a minimum age of 18 months. We feel the program may be too intense for ages below 18 months. There is no age limit and treatment is still proven to be effective years after the neurological event has occurred. There are both advantages and disadvantages of CIMT from a young and old age with treatment being effective in those young and those who have lived with their hemiparesis for years.

CIMT is only effective in patients with hemiplegia. There needs to be some degree of activity in the other arm and hand in order for your child to engage in the activities during the session, however our physiotherapist will discuss the severity of your child's hemiparesis prior to treatment commencing.

Sessions are engaging and fun with a variety of games and activities that will work on rehabilitating your child's affected limb.
