Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy

Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy

Is a genetic condition causing a defect in the gene which creates the protein dystrophin which maintains the shape and structure of muscles cells. Without this protein the muscles cells undergo cell death and cause fatigue, weakness and a progressive decrease in function. Physiotherapy can help with the symptoms associated with this absence of protein, and improve the quality of life for your child.
