Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy

Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy

Is a condition which causes weakness around the shoulder and pelvic girdle. It is caused by a mutated gene which normally makes a protein which aids muscle contraction, helping movement and function. Without this protein your child may experience a slow decline in muscle strength around the shoulder and pelvic area so physiotherapy is vital to delay this decline by strengthening the muscles and making them more functional.
