Children's Acupuncture

Children's Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine approach used at Manchester Neuro Physio to help with pain relief, reducing swelling and promoting the healing process. It is believed that the technique helps to restore the balance of energy levels within the body. An assessment will be made by our Physiotherapists as to whether acupuncture is a suitable treatment for your child as it is not recommended for all conditions. It may be more suited to older teenagers rather than young children.

How may Acupuncture help?

Following a full assessment with one of our specialist Physiotherapists at Manchester Neuro Physio, we will decide whether acupuncture may be suited for use in part of your child's treatment. Fine, single-use needles are used in the treatment on various trigger points on the body, these are determined depending on symptoms. This is what will help to stimulate the flow of energy.

With energy balance of the body being restored, this creates an environment which reduces pain and enhances the healing process. No pain should be experienced during the treatment, a dull ache may be felt but the needles are very fine and are only inserted at the surface of the skin.

At Manchester Neuro Physio, we often combine acupuncture treatment with other treatment in order to try and achieve the best outcome possible.
