Dejerine-Sottas syndrome will affect people in different ways, however the presentation of the symptoms characteristically includes:

  • Muscle weakness and atrophy
  • Slower achievement of physical milestones in infancy
  • Some children may never walk and may be wheelchair dependent
  • Ataxia (lack of coordination of movement and balance)
  • Hand and foot deformities
