The presentation of people with functional weakness will vary however symptoms may include the following:

  • Weakness affecting part of or the whole body
  • Fatigue
  • Mobility problems e.g. dragging the leg
  • Sudden collapse of a limb
  • Reduced exercise tolerance and activity

Other functional symptoms which may be present include:

  • Visual problems
  • Speech problems
  • Headaches
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Bladder or bowel problems
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Altered sensation
  • Sleep disturbance
