Conditions treated with VRT

Vestibular rehabilitation (VRT) helps to improve many of the symptoms of inner ear disorders. Disease or injury affecting the inner ear and the vestibular system can cause a variety of symptoms which can substantially reduce balance, mobility and quality of life. At Manchester Neuro Physio, our clinicians are able to offer through assessment and vestibular rehabilitation treatment sessions to reduce these problems and restore a full and active life. Some conditions which affect the vestibular system include:

  • BPPV
  • Vestibular neuronitis
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Migraine associated vertigo
  • Menieres
  • Acoustic neuroma
  • Bilateral vestibular failure
  • Mal de Debarquement syndrome
  • Dizziness in the elderly

These conditions all have slightly different symptoms and patterns of onset. Some individuals will complain of vertigo and suddenly feeling nauseas and others will slowly worsen over time. Sometimes individuals will feel unwell for a few days, others will be symptom free for months at a time and then suddenly have a burst of unsteadiness and feeling dizzy.

At Manchester Neuro Physio, our clinicians will assess the cause of your symptoms and discuss the ideal treatment program for you. Some individuals will only need one or two treatment sessions to improve the symptoms; others will need several sessions over a period of time. Most individuals with inner ear disorders will benefit from VRT and will see improvements quickly.
