Symptoms treated with VRT

Symptoms treated with VRT

Vestibular rehabilitation (VRT) is a popular evidence based treatment approach used by neurological physiotherapists in the treatment of disorders of the inner ear. Some inner ear disorders include BPPV, labyrinthitis and vestibular neuronitis. They cause a variety of symptoms which can significantly impact on an individual's ability to carry out normal activities of daily living. The symptoms of a vestibular disorder may include:

  • Dizziness
  • Vertigo
  • Unsteadiness
  • Earache
  • Hearing loss
  • Tinnitus
  • Motion sickness
  • Fatigue
  • Unable to cope in busy environments
  • Unable to use escalators/lifts
  • Swaying sensation after travel

Vestibular rehabilitation is an effective and useful treatment tool to alleviate these symptoms. At Manchester Neuro Physio, we are able to offer a high standard of VRT to reduce these symptoms and improve quality of life. Your physiotherapist will provide appropriate treatment, fatigue management advice and suggest changes to your lifestyle to help minimise your symptoms. Sometimes, the symptoms will also require management by a medical professional with medication and possibly surgery depending on your diagnosis.
